About Us

The Astronomical Society at UCLA welcomes anyone of any background, from astrophysics students to curious space enthusiasts alike. The club hosts weekly telescope shows on the roof of the Mathematical-Sciences Building, showing off incredible night sky phenomena with the club's suite of telescopes. Some of the club's most popular activities are Professor Talks held by UCLA Faculty who are experts in astronomy and off-campus trips to stargazing sights around the greater Los Angeles County area. Some of the most popular events include our annual trip to the Griffith Observatory, special telescope viewings for rare astronomical events (ex. solar eclipses, comets), and stargazing parties! These events help our organization fulfill our mission of creating a welcoming community for people to share their interest in astronomy, educating our members and the general public on scientific concepts, and exploring novel areas in the field of astronomy.
